EM has learned that McDSP will be announcing Audio Unit support for their plug-ins at NAMM. Previously, McDSP’s products were only for Pro Tools, in either RTAS or TDM format. McDSP’s AU support is really big news, because the company’s plug-ins are very highly regarded and have heretofore been only available for Pro Tools users. Plugs like CompressorBank, FilterBank and Analog Channel are just a few of the company’s many excellent products. Offering AU versions will open them up to users of DAWs like MOTU Digital Performer, Apple Logic Pro, and other AU hosts.

The company offered this explanation of how this will affect its offerings: “McDSP will continue to offer two main product lines—HD versions of McDSP plug-ins will support TDM, RTAS, and AU formats. The Native versions of McDSP plug-ins will support RTAS and AU formats.�

The company will show some of its plug-ins in AU form at NAMM, and after the show will be offering its customers the chance to upgrade their current plug-ins to add AU support for $29 each. Additional upgrade options will be announced in May of 2010.
