Penteo Surround Has Strong Presence with Genelec at 127th AES

At this year’s AES Convention in NYC, Genelec’s DSP Multichannel Monitoring System was used to demonstrate the new Penteo Surround process, which automatically converts stereo material into 5.1 audio. The Genelec system consists of 3 x 8260A monitors (a new AES product unveiling) in an L-C-R arrangement, 2 x 8240A for the rear channels, and a 7270A subwoofer. Penteo Surround is featured in the hit film “Inglourious Basterds,” with classics such as David Bowie’s “Cat People” in newly upmastered 5.1 Surround. more…

Ricky Z. and Auralex at the White House

pres.JPGIndianapolis, IN – Auralex was honored when Ricky Z., guitarist, composer and producer asked us to ship a Great GRAMMA isolation riser for his appearance on the PBS program “In Performance at the White House: Fiesta Latina.” The October 13 program, which celebrated Hispanic musical heritage featured artists such as Marc Anthony, Gloria Estefan, Thalia, Los Lobos, and Jose Feliciano.


According to Ricky (whose credits include performances with Lauryn Hill, Josh Groban, Michael Buble, and Steve Lukather), the GRAMMA was “perfect (as usual), especially considering the close proximity of all those instruments (drums, bass, and percussion).” Ricky relies on the Auralex Great GRAMMA when playing live and working in the studio to enable his amplifiers to sound much more consistent from one venue to the next. more…

The name is familiar; it’s the same name that its owner, Tucker Bodine, used when he opened his first studio in New York City on the East Coast. In 2009, Tucker completed the new West Coast Playback Recording Studio, which has now been honored with a TEC Award in 2009 for outstanding creative achievement in studio design.


Tucker Bodine began his audio career at SAE Institute’s original U.S. campus in New York City. After graduation he quickly went to work in New York prior to deciding to make it on his own and start the first Playback Recording Studio. more…
