THE INSTITUTE OF PRODUCTION AND RECORDING LAUNCHES IDEAWERKS®

MINNEAPOLIS, MN, June 18, 2009 — The Institute of Production and Recording (IPR) in Minneapolis recently opened the doors to a unique multimedia arts after-school program, The Ideawerks Indigenous Creative Academy, which is free for kids ages 12 to 18. In collaboration with The Jackie Lee Robinson Foundation, with support from the Hubert H. Humphrey Center for Democracy and Citizenship, and in partnership with the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board, the goal of this unique multimedia arts after school program is to provide participants opportunities to engage in positive artistic and social education activities as well as the encouragement for self-expression, communication and leadership.

The program, which runs 12 weeks in the summer and 10 weeks recurrently during the school year, which at no cost to parents addresses current economic concerns, provides participants with the creative platform and tools that are vital to creating multimedia audio and visual projects from conception to completion. They will learn recording techniques, record audio and video information on digital workstations, study music basics and computer software to create music tracks, videos, produce and record individual multimedia projects, develop skills in the areas of collaboration, presentation, “completion and delivery,” and acquire professional capabilities.

To kick off the opening of the school, a ceremony was held in Powderhorn Park where the school is located. The event was hosted by Jessica Berg, concert and events coordinator for the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board, and emceed by entertainment journalist, television host, and recent regional Emmy Award winner Kristen Aldridge. They introduced a program of various speakers from the community including Obie Kipper Jr., district manager of the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board; André Fischer, executive director of music industries at IPR and acting president of the JLR Foundation; Keith Parker, director of special partnerships with Twin Cities Public Television; Mary Merrill Anderson, commissioner at-large and vice president of the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board; and JP Hungelmann, pro audio outlet development administrator at IPR.

Morris Hayes, producer, artist, and long time musical director for Prince, took time out of his schedule to fly back to his hometown of Minneapolis to show his support for this exceptional program. “As a personal friend of the late Jackie Lee Robinson, I have nothing but heartfelt appreciation for the efforts of all involved to help make Jackie’s vision for Ideawerks come to life,” says Hayes. “I will continue to stay involved with the program and encourage all community members to do so as well. Students are given the remarkable opportunity to learn recording techniques and music basics at no charge, allowing them to express themselves in a creative way, and in a safe environment, too. This program will change many lives and I am happy to be a part of it.”

“Ideawerks® couldn’t have been made possible without the support of some of the biggest names in the pro audio industry,” says Fischer. “I would like to send a special thanks to Avid, Digidesign, Sennheiser, M-Audio, Ableton, S4 Design, ADFX, Allied Audio and Apple for donating some of their best-selling professional gear to be used as learning tools for the program participants.”

“We were also fortunate enough to have the support of several leading educational and scholarship organizations and foundations, including Public Achievement®, the Globe Education Network, the Minneapolis Park Foundation, and the Page Education Foundation, which has been gracious enough to donate the first scholarship to the program,” continues Fischer.

“IDEAWERKS” sessions begin Monday, June 15 in the Powderhorn Park Studio in Minneapolis. Registration is required. For more information, please visit www.ideawerks.org.

POWERSOFT UNVEILS FIRST TWO MODELS IN NEW INSTALLATION SERIES AT INFOCOMM 2009

ORLANDO, FL, June 17, 2009 – Powersoft Advanced Technologies, LLC, a world leading manufacturer of superior quality digital power amplifiers for the professional audio market, is proud to present the first two models of its new Installation Series at this year’s InfoComm 2009 (Booth 6384), the Duecanali5204 and Duecanali3904. These amplifiers are installation versions of the K-3 and newly introduced K-2, delivering an efficient and reliable energy saving design in a compact one-rack unit space, while still maintaining high-output wattage and crystal clear audio. The design offers 40% to 60% savings on operating costs over traditional amplifiers of the same power rating.

The Duecanali5204 offers a thundering 1400W of power with a speaker load of 8-ohms, 2600W at 4-ohms and 2800W at 2-ohms in stereo configuration. In bridge mode the output wattage is a massive 5200W at 8-ohms and 5600W at 4-ohms. The Duecanali3904 has a generous power range of 1000W with an 8-ohm speaker load, 1950W at 4-ohms and 2400W at 2-0hms in stereo configuration. In bridge mode the unit delivers a steady 3900W at 8-ohms and 4800W at 4-ohms. The available power yield from both units insures undistorted peak sound performance.

The Installation Series incorporates the innovative and patented Powersoft universal switching mode power supply, providing users with worldwide AC operation in voltage ranges from 95 to 265V. The Power Factor Correction (PFC) technology employed in the design tolerates up to a 400 VAC spike without interrupting rated audio output and clarity. The design also features low-power consumption with an incredible Power Factor efficiency of more than 0.90 from 500W to full power. This yields a 40% to 60% reduction in current draw over to traditional power amplifiers without PFC, helping to lower the carbon footprint and delivering a sensible economic benefit for installations. These amplifiers pay for themselves over time through equivalent power savings.

Powersoft’s bridgeable switch mode fixed frequency class D patented outputs generate high-quality sound with an excellent damping factor and the amplifier circuits run cooler for stable performance over time, resulting in longer amplifier life and reduced external cooling costs. Both units feature an LCD display with lockable user menu for easy control of all settings.

Offering DSP for full high-quality, on-board sound processing with up to 16 EQ filters per channel, the Installation Series is equipped with FIR filters with a cross-over slope of up to 48 dB per octave. The DSP package is capable of up to two seconds of delay per channel for time correction between satellite speakers. The peak limiter and true power limiter functions offer complete loudspeaker protection, while the patented damping factor and cable resistance compensation network offers a tight low end that is independent from cable section and length.

The Installation Series comes with a sensing and communication board that uses a standard RS-485 bus and offers an optional Ethernet connection through Powersoft’s KAESOP board that is able to drive two AES3 channels over the same CAT5 cable. This provides full control and monitoring through proprietary software running on an external PC. The software is compatible with all other Powersoft K, D, Q and QTU Series amplifiers.

With an astonishing signal to noise ratio greater than 110 dB for the Duecanali3904 and 112 dB for the Duecanali5204, each unit offers a Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), SMPTE and DIM30 Inter-modulation that is less than 0.5% from 1W to full power. The Installation Series demonstrates top-class performance that is similar to the acclaimed K Series, which has been available since 2005 via the best rental companies worldwide.

Rear panel input/output connectors are based on Euro blocks (Phoenix type) with auxiliary inputs that are triggered by an external 24V DC input for evacuation/emergency pre-recorded messages and doubled outputs per channel for easy of connection.

Two relays on the output circuits provide alarms for main power drop, short circuit, open circuit and thermal protection based on single channel information for system confidence monitoring. The Installation Series Duecanali5204 and Duecanali3904 amplifiers load monitoring information follows the EN60849 standard.

Designed by the Powersoft R&D team, the new Installation Series models are exclusively manufactured in Italy with internal components selected for premium quality and proven durability. Each modular subassembly is pre-tested, and the assembled Installation Series receives a rigorous 48 hours burn-in before final check-out on precision test equipment for total quality control.
