WAVES INTRODUCES CENTER PROCESSOR

— New processor allows isolation, reposition, re-mixing, and elimination of Center and L/R panned content in a stereo mix

Waves Center

WINTER NAMM SHOW, ANAHEIM, CA, January 15, 2009 — Waves Audio introduces Waves Center, an innovative new processor that separates phantom Center audio from side (L/R panned) content. Ideal for final mixes and mastering, Center lets users zero in on the phantom center and bring out or bring down the vocals without affecting everything else. Perfect for post-production engineers and DJs as well, Center allows users to reposition, isolate and even eliminate elements of a mix.

Utilizing a unique dynamic engine that considers the amplitude, frequency and time envelope of stereo sources, Center gives users the power to radically re-balance their spatial imagery. Adjustable punch, high frequency and low frequency controls let users enhance detail with maximum impact.

Waves Center is ideal for a wide range of audio applications. Post-production engineers can use Center to enhance dialog or narration, control the ambience/reverb of stereo location recordings and improve mono compatibility. Mixing and mastering engineers can re-image stereo drum overheads, bring out the lead vocals in a finished mix, balance stereo recordings of individual groups of acoustic instruments, widen or narrow the stereo spread and much more. Center is also an invaluable tool for DJs, allowing them to remove vocals for karaoke tracks, isolate instrumental tracks for remixes and mash-ups, and manipulate beat samples and drum loops.

Users of Waves Mercury and Waves Diamond covered by Waves Update Plan receive Center at no additional charge. Waves Center carries a U.S. MSRP of $400 Native, $800 TDM. For more information, please visit www.waves.com.

LECTROSONICS WITHSTANDS BATTLE OF THE BANDS

tmorgan_hi.jpgRio Rancho, NM – January 2009… For any sound crew, outdoor music programs are tough enough, as they require extra care to avoid wind, condensation, and the unavoidable issue of something being dropped at the most inopportune time—usually when changing the setups between the opening and main acts. Now, take these ever-present conditions and multiply them by fifteen and you begin to grasp the challenges facing Ted Morgan and his crew as they ran sound for the recent Word Out Festival Battle of the Bands near Kissimmee, FL in Osceola County just south of Orlando. The wireless mics and instrument transmitters deployed on this project worked flawlessly, but the gear absorbed some rather nasty bumps. As it turned out, all is well—thanks in large part to the fact that the wireless equipment was from none other than Lectrosonics. more
