National Sales Manager Brings Wealth of Practical Experience
Donovan Stark had heard about StageGear racks and cases for years. His childhood friend, Guns ‘n’ Roses production manager Tom Mayhue, was a big fan of the company and its products and often stopped by at StageGear’s offices. Stark had spent 20 years as a touring musician and producer, so he understood Mayhue’s enthusiasm for StageGear’s exceptional quality and customer support.
Stark understood a lot more than that. During his three years as Pro Accounts Manager with GC Pro, the pro-audio division of Guitar Center, he was the top recording-console salesman. His exceptional skill at selling the Solid State Logic AWS 900 console led to a position with SSL as Partnership Manager for North America. There, his responsibilities included support and development of SSL’s expanding XLogic dealer network, AWS 900+ sales support for Guitar Center and GC Pro, and staffing the demonstration suites at the company’s New York and Los Angeles offices. He was as successful at SSL as he had been at GC Pro.
Life was good, but when his daughter was born, Stark yearned to work closer to his Riverside, California, home. StageGear’s Corona facility is a mere 15 miles from Riverside, so when the case company had an opening for a National Sales Manager, Stark’s old friend Mayhue offered to introduce him. Stark jumped at the chance. “The opportunity to join StageGear was a chance to return to my roots in the live-music market,” explains Stark. “By joining StageGear, I can expand my network and contribute to the success of the best tour-support manufacturing company in the business”.
StageGear founder and president Bob Blackhurst is delighted to add Stark to his team. “Donovan Stark is a perfect fit for us,” Blackhurst enthuses. “At StageGear, we work hard to build close relationships with our customers so that we can anticipate their needs and provide exactly the right products. Donovan Stark brings us an ideal combination of practical touring experience, interpersonal skills, enthusiasm, and salesmanship. We couldn’t be more pleased.”
